1. For your easy and better reading, it is not a good idea to look out for those Ebook readers with smaller form factor as they may strain your eyes after reading for some time. I personally do not foresee that a smaller screen size like PDA screen type will be popular for Ebook reading.
2. The Ebook reader or the digital book reader should be affordable with competitive online pricing. Online purchase trend is ever growingespecially during this economic crisis time as it saves you a lot in terms of petrol, time and money. You may be able to get some free freebies whenever there is an online promotion.
3. It should be also a Wireless Reading Device with latest 3G GSM technology to support US and/or international countries. Mobile wireless 3G technology originated from Europe 3G is growing at a tremendous growth rate as compared to others like the mature CDMA. Therefore, with a 3G enabled model, you can access your own library of Ebooks, e-magazines, newspaper, blogs and articles anytime and anywhere.
4. It should have large enough storage capacity to hold as many Ebooks as possible so that you can consolidate all your beloved Ebooks in just a single Ebook reader.
5. It should also support the largest assortment of compatible formats for Ebooks, newspapers, magazines, Blogs and articles. An Ebook reader which does not support a wide of data formats and e-media types will not be in great demand
6. It is best if the Ebook reader comes with text to speech capability. i.e. you do not need even to read with your eyes. Or it gives you an option to switch to speech mode when you are tired of reading after some time.
7. With the today’s advancement of low powered microelectronics, some advanced Ebook Readers can be ultra thin for great portability. Thin profile Ebook Readers are lighter and more attractive to the ladies.
8. Choose the model with a longer battery life preferably at least 4-5 days of continual usage even it is under wireless 3G mode. Ideally, it can operate at least one to two weeks continually without wireless mode.
9. If you are thinking of buying a Ebook Reader as a gift for someone you love, you may choose the brand or model which has a wide variety of supported accessories for e.g stylish leather cover, screen skin, earpiece, reading light and adapters. These items can further be added on or change if necessary. So it is a kind of fun for your loved ones to choose his or her preferred accessories to complement to the Ebook Reader.

Nook is great for a compact read!,
I have owned my Nook, the 1st edition, for over a year now and LOVE it!! It’s traveled with me across the world (China) and back. The battery has a good charge life and only needs to be plugged in for a little while every few days to build up a full charge ~ of course, this is with heavy use.
I still read soft covers too and find that when I read my Nook, the battery is very satisfactory. The screen is crisp and the text is very clear.
I’ve loaded audio tunes and books on my Nook and playback works just fine.
I’m not a game player so I don’t use that feature.
The wi-fi is fine and when I go to Barnes & Noble with my Nook, it automatically connects to the B&N wi-fi network where I can read anything in the store (that is available on the Nook) for free.
I’ve uploaded library e-books on my Nook to great success and I have used the Lend-Me B&N feature with friends who also have a Nook. All in all, I love this device. I previously owned the Amazon Kindle but didn’t like their ebook file type restrictions (no ePub for example) so I switched to the Nook.
The only issue I have right now, and it’s VERY MINOR, is that I have to have a light when reading my Nook. I don’t like book light clips and when traveling, if I want to read and my roommate wants to sleep, it can be a bit a of challenge with lighting. I plan to invest in the Nook Color soon just for the mere fact that I won’t need a light to read by. Also, I haven’t noticed any issues with a glare on the screen from any light source.
I did have one problem with the very 1st software update (released more than a year ago) and the customer service reps were very helpful. I have not experienced any trouble with any of the latest updates nor have I had trouble with the device itself.
Uploading PDF files and books from other sources to my Nook library works just fine and readability is great!
I’ve used the photo feature to add my own pictures for screen savers and even though they display in black and white, I’m satisfied.
It’s compact functionality is great and I can carry it in my purse without adding too much weight.
The BEST purchase/investment I’ve made and will be upgrading soon to the Nook Color while passing down my Nook 1st Edition to my friend.
Try it out ~ you won’t be disappointed!

|Terrific little device even if it is a refurb!,
This is a great little ebook reader with great battery life and a very easy to read display. I got one my wife and she liked it so much that I decided to get one for myself. It is very easy to get books from Barnes and Noble, or to download from our local library, or to transfer files from a computer. This nook is the first generation, so there aren’t any video capabilities and it has only a black and white display but it works very well for reading books. It also has a consumer replaceable battery that can be found around on the internet for 10 to 20 dollars (which the second generation devices do not have.) All in all, this is a terrific little device even if it is a refurb! Highly recommended.
