Article by Noel Swinton

There are many digital book readers that are on offer on the Internet today. However, when it comes to the best ebook reader that you can have, four product choices come to mind: Kindle Book Reader, Sony Digital Book Reader, Iliad Electronic Reader and the BeBook. These four digital book readers are the main players that you can choose from and here are some of their characteristics to help you choose which is the best ebook reader for you.

Kindle Book Reader

Amazons new wireless reading device Kindle2 is one of, if not, the most popular digital book readers on sale at the moment. It is also the market leader, mostly because of its distinctive looks that set it apart from other digital book readers. Also, another factor that makes this the best ebook reader for many users is the amount of available material, in the form of ebooks, that can be put on this device. There are stores, both online and on the high street, that you can go to that hold large selections of books and newspapers for the Kindle book reader. The screen is also big enough for readers to comfortably enjoy the ebook of their choice. However, one problem with the Kindle book reader is that you need to convert the files first, into its own format, before you can put it on the reader.

Sony prs505 Digital Ebook Reader Review

These Sony PRS 505 digital book readers are a little bit smaller than the Amazon Kindle. It also has a sleek style and a nice high quality monitor. One advantage that this model has over the Kindle is that it can read other file types like PDF and even RTF. It also supports PNG, JPEG and GIF formats. Not only that, it has slots for USB and SD cards, that are easily purchase from Amazon, for easy file transfer and sharing. However, the size of the buttons are small so it can be a problem for people with big hands or a lack of dexterity. Also, at present, you have a limited choice in the books that can be downloaded but this aspect is continually improving.

iRex iLiad Review

The Iliad digital book readers have the best quality contrast but they are also the most expensive digital ebook reader. The size of the device and the size of the screen is decent. However, it is very noticeable that it is slow in turning the pages. It does read many standard types of ebooks and it does have its memory slots. However, the main drawback of this model is the pen that comes with it. The pen is used to access different options that you need – if you lose the pen, you will then lose access to different options in the device until you purchase a replacement.

BeBook Digital Ebook Reader Review

This digital ebook reader is the newest in the market. Initial BeBook reviews have been very good for the product. The size of the device and the screen go together well and the design is simple but very user friendly. It also supports many more file types such as PDF, DOC, EPUB, PPT, TXT, HTML, RTF, BMP, JPG, PNG, GIF, TIF, DJVU, FB2, WOL, CHM, RAR, ZIP, MP3 and even Microsoft LIT. However, since this is a new model, the availability of book titles is still the number one concern expressed in a lot of BeBook Reviews.

So there you have it. Use these ebook reader reviews to make your choice based entirely on your own personal preference and taste. Just take note of the pros and cons of the different digital book readers and choose the best electronic book reader for you.

eBook Readers question by xflipzpridex: Are e-books read on ebook readers more difficult to read than a normal paper book?
Hey, so I read really slow, and I know that reading text on a computer is slower than reading text on paper. But how about on ebook readers? I have a lot of reading to do over the summer, and I was wondering if reading books on my ebook reader would be slower than reading paper books?
Thanks!

Do your ebook reader use e-ink? If so, I think it will not differ much compared to reading on paper. I owned the Kindle 2, which uses the e-ink technology. I like it very much as it is really like reading books, and some time I feel that reading on my Kindle is even faster than reading on books. You can read this from an actual owner too, it tells the feeling on reading books:

BTW, I’m a student too so I need to do lots of reading. I’ve found some way to improve my reading speed. I’ve mentioned that in another answer previously, just see if it helps:

It depends! what is your reason for reading slowly? Is it the size of the text, is it the source of the text? What is it?

If you read slow on the computer, you probably will read slow on an ebook reader. Some ebook readers, though, offer the ability to vary the size of the text on e-ink display. This is somewhat similar to reading paper. it’s easy on the eyes.

The larger text may allow you to go a little faster, because the pages are shorter, so you could find yourself consumed in the reading, moving at a merry clip without knowing.

I would say, you will just have to test it and see. There are two many variables involved to just say you will read faster on one or the other.

    Hope this helps.
